ABOUT M.I.

I started composing and playing music at an early age, both in classical and contemporary styles. I’ve won numerous international composition awards and my compositions are played around the world: Milan, Rome (on the occasion of the Jubilee), Paris, Strasbourg, San Francisco (SFMOMA), Athens (at the Olympics Games), Hong Kong (Cultural Centre), Berlin (Deutsche Oper).

As an all round composer, I design soundtracks for films, theatres, advertising and fashion events (such as Diesel, Prada, Ferrari F1, Maserati GT1). In recent years, my majority of work on composing has diverted also into contemporary dance music production which I was honoured to have collaborated with international renowned choreographers such as Gheorge Iancu, Bryan Sanders, Daniel Ezralow and David Parsons.

I specialised in developing strategies for restoring and renovating famous theatres, such as the Teatro Lirico in Milan (Italy), the Teatro Verdi in Ferrara (Italy) and the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of Baku (Azerbaijan). Because of my experience on stage and in opera houses, some operators have also invited me as Musical consultant for international musical institutions and special events, having prestigious artistic collaborations with major European theatres such as Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence), the Opera Berlioz (Montpellier), Deuthsche Oper (Berlin).
In 2004, I’ve been Artistic Co-ordinator for the supporting events during the Olympics in Athens.

I write music critics for various magazines, I edited the musical magazine “Suite Classica” and I’ve written several books on musicology (published in both Italian and English). With the book “The Cassandra Case”, I was honoured by the acclaimed International Award “Luigi Illica” in 2009.

I’ve been Music Director of the Grand Opening of Studio City, Macao (2015), Opening Show of GOOGLE APAC Summit (Macau, 2017), International Launch of BMW X2 (Beijing, 2018) and Porsche Macan (Shenzhen, 2018), IF! Italians Creative Festival (Milan, 2019), K11 MUSEA Cultural Muse Encounter (Hong Kong, 2019 and 2020).

I’m always interested in promoting artistic and aesthetic awareness and the diffusion of musical culture, as a scholar of “Musical History” at the Catholic University of Milan and of “Multimedia” at the Polytechnic of Milan, as organiser and speaker in several Music Seasons in Europe.
Since 2020, I’m lecturer at NABA, New Academy of Fine, Arts in Milan (Italy), Master in “Creative Advertising”.

Especially about music and creative education, I find high satisfaction with communicating and steering students to their potential talents. In 2003, I co-founded a music school in Milan (Italy), “LaNuovaMusica”, specialised in children education by creating a complete innovative teaching method that stimulates children’s creativity with simple original compositions and practice of improvisation. In 2005 I co-founded the “Under 13 Orchestra”, the first Italian children orchestra that till today has trained hundreds young musicians.
In 2012, I co-designed the curriculum of “RockAbaby” an innovative music playground in Hong Kong. Until 2020, I’ve been Artistic Director and Music Coordinator of “Bebegarten” Education Centre.
